Weekly Stock Market Outlook ~ Week of May 5
The Fed was the focus of traders and investors this past week. The FOMX dropped interest rates by 25 basis points in an effort to provide additional stimulus to the lagging economy. It still remains a toss up as to whether we are officially in a recession however; economic data released this past week continues to provide facts that we are. The government announced last week that they will be providing more funding for food, for low income families. The markets provided nice gains over this past week and traders as well as investors appeared to cash in on some profits on the final trading day of the week, with the markets dipping into negative territory, briefly during the final trading day of the week. This upcoming weekend, Microsoft will again make an attempt to take over Yahoo and a hostile takeover is not out of the question. Crude Oil continues to maintain a harsh impact and ended trading on Friday at over $116 a barrel.
Stocks on the move through out the week include Mastercard Incorporated (NYSE: MA) and First Solar, Incorporated (NasdaqGS: FSLR).
